A first-generation Mexican-Cuban American born and raised in the Bronx, he attended Pratt Institute, the first in his family to graduate from college.\n \nAfter graduation, he juggled working between the fine and commercial art worlds trying to find a way to stay true to his art while paying back his family for putting him through college. His journey forced him to continually take on diverse career choices, learn new skills, and embrace technological advancements.\n\n“Digital art should not be ignored as a medium for fine art,” says Arocena. “The computer is just another tool for the artist to use to express themselves.” Arocena creates intricate vector art with Adobe Illustrator which he prints using an HP DesignJet Printer. His work is influenced by his experiences growing up in the Bronx, subway graffiti, advertising, entertainment, and popular culture. He has delivered creative solutions for some of the world's most renowned brands while also exhibiting his fine art at a multitude of important galleries.
